What is this blog for?

Yes, I am lucky enough to realize one of my dream: doing a world-tour traveling Eastward, crossing about 20 countries during 7 months :-))
This blog tries to share part of this personal experience, through pictures, descriptions and thoughts. This is also to keep a track for me to remember later on ;)

Cape Town & Table Mountain hike

Thursday April 11th

I arrived yesterday evening to this famous city of Cape Town, so renowned for its scenery and great life quality. Very curious to discover the town!

On Wednesday evening, reaching the Backpack Hostel around 11am, I meet few students and the hostel bartenders, who are moving into town... i can only join them to check out what's CT nightlife ;) Long Street was super busy for a Wednesday night, and though we are quite in a foreigners place, quite fun to discover the melting pot of people going out here.

On Thursday morning, after a nice breakfast at the hostel with beautiful view, I move to hike to this fantastic Table Moutain overviewing Cape Town, that you can see indeed from almost every street in the city.

I decide to walk from  the hostel to the bottom before to start the classic 2h hike, as it is only supposed to add 45mn... Oups, i make a mistake, and head to the back of Table Mountain, and does actually start a quite difficult ascent, Kasteelspoort. Quite steep and tough to navigate on, but the reward comes from the amazing views on Camps Bay and the coast, really nice. And there is no tourist on this route, only experienced locals, finally quite happy to have taken this path :)

Arriving at the top after 2h, I still have another 1h of trek on the plateau to reach the view point on the full city and the bay. Still very enjoyable landscape, perfect to resource and think, while doing some good exercise.

Well, me at the top of Kasteelspoort trek, before to start the plateau trek of Table Mountain

And up there... wow wow wow, yes Cape Town looks amazing, and is located in a fantastic natural set-up, with this bay, Lion's head hill, Table Mountain... impressive.

In the evening, after being robbed around Long Street (it had to happen during the trip, at least it is done and was nothing serious / big ;) ), I meet Anya thanks to Couchsurfing, who will welcome me for 2 nights. Really easy-going, happy and fun person, I am lucky for this 1st CS experience! Good conversations already on this 1st evening, we will do together the Cape of Good Hope on Friday, I am looking forward.
